LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Sept. 8 /U.S. Newswire/ -- General Wesley Clark addressed thousands of his supporters attending nearly 200 MeetUps across the country tonight via an online web cast, thanking them for their support and preparing them for the days ahead. Draft Clark 2004 regional coordinators across the country armed themselves with laptops to play General Clark's message for volunteers attending their local MeetUps.

Calling tonight's gatherings around the country the "last" MeetUps of the draft movement, General Clark said, "I will have to make a decision by the end of next week." General Clark also characterized the draft movement as "a tremendous inspiration" and "the encouragement to me to really give serious consideration to joining this race."

Transcript of General Clark's remarks:

"Well I want to welcome each and every one of you to the last Draft Wesley Clark MeetUp. You all are changing the face of America by participation in these MeetUps. We haven't had anything this powerful in American Democracy since 1772 and the committees of correspondence set up by Sam Adams in Boston. And through this activity we're bringing citizen participation into democracy. It's a tremendous inspiration to me, and it's been the encouragement to me to really give serious consideration to joining this race.

"I'm approaching a decision and I will have to make a decision by the end of next week. But I just want to say that this is about a lot more than one person. This is about each and every one of you and what this country stands for. We stand for participation, for citizens' involvement in their government, for keeping up with the issues, for expressing strong opinions, and for believing in what our country stands for and our potential for greatness and goodness in the world.

"And so I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your dedication, for your faith in each other that's brought all of you together and to say that we can do great things for America. Each and every one of us working together, working on behalf of the causes we believe in, and helping to make this country strong and great and good. Thanks so much for being part of this MeetUp, and I hope I have a chance someday to meet each and every one of you and thank you personally. You've been a tremendous inspiration to me and my family. Thank you."
